چکیده

INTRODUCTION Over the recent decades various markerbased video capture systems have been developed in order to estimate segment kinematics in biomechanics applications. It may not be a disproportionate statement to claim that this method is regarded as the gold standard in laboratory based settings. Inherent problems to these systems include adequate marker placement, skin movement artefacts and marker occlusion in certain body orientations. A possible alternative to this approach are markerless imagebased motion tracking systems. Previously, simplified models were used (Fua et al., 2001) providing reasonable estimates of body movements.

A Silhouette Based Human Motion Tracking System

This paper proposes a system for model based human motion estimation. We start with a human model generation system, which uses a set of input images to automatically generate a free-form surface model of a human upper torso. We subsequently determine joint locations automatically and generate a texture for the surface mesh. Following this, we present morphing and joint transformation technique...

A Novel Approach on Silhouette Based Human Motion Analysis for Gait Recognition

This paper presents a novel view independent approach on silhouette based human motion analysis for gait recognition applications. Spatio-temporal 1-D signals based on the differences between the outer of binarized silhouette of a motion object and a bounding box placed around silhouette are chosen as the basic image features called the distance vectors. The distance vectors are extracted using...

A System for Marker-Less Human Motion Estimation

In this contribution we present a silhouette based human motion estimation system. The system components contain silhouette extraction based on level sets, a correspondence module, which relates image data to model data and a pose estimation module. Experiments are done in a four camera setup and we estimate the model components with 21 degrees of freedom in two frames per second. Finally, we p...

Model-Based Estimation of 3D Human Motion

ÐThis paper presents the formulations and techniques that we have developed for the three-dimensional, model-based, motion estimation of human movement from multiple cameras. Our method is based on the spatio-temporal analysis of the subject's silhouette and it has the advantage that the subject does not have to wear markers or other devices. We present tracking results from experiments involvi...

Real-time 3D Motion Capture

We describe a real-time 3D computer vision system for detecting and tracking human movement and providing a person with control over the movement of a virtual puppet. Multiple cameras observe a person; silhouette analysis and template matching achieve real-time 3D estimation of human posture. A dynamics/kinematics model of human body and Kalman filter are utilized to help the tracking process a...
